Feeling Guilty About Your Teen’s Acne?

As a mom, seeing your teen struggle with acne can be painful. You’ve probably tried everything from cleansers to supplements, and maybe even prescriptions.

You’ve researched, stressed, and even lost sleep worrying if you’re doing enough or maybe you’re wondering if you wait too long, fearing they are doomed to always having acne.

Please know that you have not failed your child, and it’s never too late to help them achieve clear skin. To be clear, popping, picking, and attempting extracts can set the skin up for scars. Some scars heal better and easier than others, so for this reason I highly disagree with extractions.

But it is never too late to get acne to go away. The longer you wait, the longer it could take, but even that isn’t always a factor for the amount of time it takes to correct. Every situation is different.

Unfortunately, there’s more inaccurate information about acne than what is actually correct. And I’m here to change that.

It’s natural to feel frustrated, guilty, or even like you’ve failed your child. But please know that acne is not a reflection of your parenting. It’s a signal from your teen’s body, not a judgment on you.

In every new teen acne consultation, I find myself consoling parents for this misdirected blame. The blame should be on the industry for their lack of knowledge, not on you.

Most practitioners and product companies focus solely on the skin or the zits by making you feel like the reason for your kiddo’s skin issues is because you need to use their products, not their competition’s products. And here I am, screaming that you don’t need any products in most situations.

You need understanding and clarity about why your teen’s body is producing acne in the first place.

Newsflash…I’ve never seen anyone have acne due to the lack of a $150 serum not being applied to the skin, BUT I have seen many client who have acne due to using products that aren’t right for them.

Acne is more than skin deep. It has many layers hiding in plain sight like stress, digestion, sleep, emotional health, mindset, and even self-image to name a few of the necessary areas that must be addressed for healing acne holistically. Ignoring these deeper factors is the reason so many well-intentioned efforts fail.

Think of it like trying to fix a leaking roof by painting over the water stains. The problem isn’t the stain, it’s the leaky roof.

Until the leak is addressed, no amount of paint will fix the real reason for the stained ceiling (the result of the leak). Acne is the result of something not being addressed properly; skin care, supplements, and meds are the “paint” in this scenario.

The good news? Every attempt you’ve made has given you valuable information about what doesn’t work and that knowledge has led you here to what will work.

Your teen’s acne is not your fault. You haven’t failed them. And with the right approach that looks beyond the zits, clear and healthy skin is possible.

If you’re ready to stop guessing and start addressing the real causes behind your teen’s acne, call or text 469-990-4305 to schedule a Free Teen Acne Consultation. You don’t have to do this alone.
